Yukiko Ichishima, MEM, PMP

Yukiko is passionate about bridging science and policy, particularly in watershed, coastal & estuarine, and ocean management. She is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with 20 years of experience working in the private sector, non-profit, and academia­­.

​

Yukiko's greatest strengths are managing projects and teams with care and attention to detail, collaborating with people, and research & writing. Yukiko has 15+ years' experience leading teams, building relationships with clients and partners from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Honesty and integrity are two of her top values that she brings it into her work. 

Background

A skilled problem solver, communicator, and project manager, Yukiko holds a Master's in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Environment, a BA in Environmental Information from Keio University (Japan), and a PMI Project Management certification.

 

As Associate Director of a capacity building organization within Yale University's School of the Environment, Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative (ELTI), Yukiko managed the operations and finances for a 15-person team with six international subawards (annual operational budget: $1.8M, ~$7M over 5 years). She developed financial scenarios and adaptive strategies, led and implemented strategies, communications, and internal knowledge management strategies.

As Project Manager and Environmental Consultant with Japan NUS, Yukiko led teams to assess environmental impacts ensuring conformance with World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards­ and conducted on-site visits (e.g., Romania, Australia). She also provided technical support to the Japanese government with international agreements under the London Protocol, as well attending the International Seabed Authority sessions in Kingston, Jamaica.

As Project Manager and Environmental Scientist with Tetra Tech, Yukiko led teams of diverse on- and off-site staff to conduct research and analyses to develop reports, memos, case studies, fact sheets, outreach material, and website content for the USEPA. One of her major achievements includes orchestrating a team of 20+ staff over the course of 8 months to conduct a literature review for a USEPA technical support document, using approximately 1,200 peer-reviewed articles, reports, and studies to characterize 28 estuarine ecosystems in Florida.
