Fractional Operations Leadership

Close-Up Fern Leaves

Senior, part-time operations leadership for mission-driven organizations navigating growth, complexity, and change.

When Growth Outpaces Structure

As organizations grow, complexity increases faster than systems. Work becomes harder to coordinate, decisions pile up with leadership, and risk accumulates quietly — in finances, workload, compliance, and follow-through.

You may not need a full-time COO. But you do need senior operational judgment.

What I Do

I work as a fractional operations leader, partnering with founders, Executive Directors, and leadership teams to build the operational backbone of the organization — the systems, cadence, and decision infrastructure that allow leaders to focus on strategy and impact.

  • Translating strategy into operating plans, priorities, and decision cadence

  • Establishing leadership and management rhythm (planning, reviews, follow-through)

  • Creating visibility into workload, capacity, finances, and risk

  • Designing SOPs, workflows, and documentation for consistency

  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and compliance

  • Serving as a thought partner and integrator across teams and initiatives

My approach: Operational Integration & Foresight

I look across strategy, people, work, and finances to identify misalignment early and reduce friction before it becomes failure.

Visibility → Operating Rhythm → Stabilization → Foresight

The outcome: fewer surprises, clearer decisions, and sustainable execution.

Engagement model

Fractional engagements provide senior-level operations leadership without the overhead of a full-time hire. Common structures include:

  • Ongoing fractional leadership (typically 5–15 hours/week)

  • Operational stabilization or scaling support

  • Time-bound initiatives: planning cycles, system build-outs, transitions

Scope is tailored and evolves with the organization.

Is this a fit?

This tends to be the right fit if your organization:

  • Is growing and feeling internal strain or fragmentation

  • Relies heavily on leadership for coordination and follow-through

  • Wants better visibility into finances, workload, or risk

  • Needs senior operational judgment — but not a full-time hire

  • Operates in mission-driven, multi-stakeholder environments

Why my environmental background matters here

I bring over 20 years of experience managing complex initiatives across nonprofit, academic, consulting, and international contexts — including multi-country programs and compliance-heavy environments. My environmental and international background shapes how I approach operations: with rigor, accountability, and deep respect for complexity.

If your organization does environmental or conservation work, I bring both the operational discipline and the domain fluency to be genuinely useful from day one.

If you're exploring fractional operations support, I'm happy to start with a conversation about whether it's the right fit.
